It is our belief that teachers’ responsibility for struggling readers is to develop confidence in themselves. It is crucial to these students that the teacher has a growth mindset and fosters this mindset in each student. Building confidence is fifty percent of the work in helping students to overcome difficulties in learning.
Words + More is a targeted program that can be used as a Response to Intervention (RtI) solution for all tiers, particularly Tier 2. Given the systematic and scaffolded way in which reading strategies are taught, students are empowered to decode and comprehend increasingly challenging text with guidance initially and eventually independently.
